Set and balance signal levels across your mix.

How gain structure works on a digital mixer: Think of it in two stages.
• Stage 1 — Preamp (Gain knob): This is where the microphone signal gets amplified into the console. Set this so the meter shows a healthy signal — not too quiet, not clipping. A good starting point is aiming for peaks around the middle of the green zone on the SQ-7's channel meter.
• Stage 2 — Fader (the big moving fader): This controls the channel's level in the mix. Keep it near the "U" (unity) mark. If you're pushing a fader all the way up to hear a channel, the preamp gain is too low.
• Why it matters: Proper gain staging means your EQ and dynamics work correctly, you have enough headroom to prevent distortion, and your monitors stay feedback-free.
